LOOK LIKE THE INNOCENT FLOWER, BE THE SERPENT UNDERNEATH IT.
Rosaline is a mage recently graduated from the rank of apprentice. Throughout her time in Faelbane, she has exhibited great prowess in a powerful strain of Illusion magic. It unsettles her peers, if only because it often seems as though she has to contend with it before it relinquishes itself to her authority and control. Once - before she had been given a chance to hone and perfect it - her magic very nearly killed her, and she has suffered its wrath long since then. Despite this, she is a skilled mage with a sense of dedication and resilience rarely exhibited by anyone who is not interested in someday becoming an arcane master. However, she has no interest in remaining within the tower's walls. Instead, she intends to someday travel to her native homeland and instigate a rebellion with which to free her people from the subjugation and cruelties they have for so long endured. A task nothing short of suicidal? Perhaps. But Rosaline has never been one to abandon her resolve, or forfeit her own beliefs.
FRIENDS AND ALLIES - Much to the displeasure of her teachers, Rosaline has never gotten on well with her fellow peers. She seems to regard teamwork with disdain and has isolated herself from the other students since the moment she set foot within Faelbane. This shouldn't be mistaken as a matter of pride or arrogance, but rather, she's fearful that her magic may someday spiral out of control and indirectly harm those around her. She can't even fathom having to be responsible for that sort of accident, and so she keeps everyone at an arm's length to protect them. She does however seem to find solace in the company of her teachers and the arcane masters.
ENEMIES AND RIVALS - Many of her peers are put off by her standoffish attitude, and are even uneasy about the lack of control she seems to have over her gift. There are also those who have grown jealous of the awe with which some of the teachers regard her, having taken into account the magnitude of power she harbors within herself, unrealized. I'm open to most anything here. There could even possibly be a teacher that considers her foolish for her behavior and makes it a habit to confront her about it in an effort to draw her out of her shell.
LOVERS AND ROMANCE - A tricky subject indeed. Rosaline was always in awe of the depth of her parents' love for one another. To be honest, she's a romantic at heart, but because she's always so paranoid that she may unwillingly end up harming someone close to her, she erects a metaphorical wall to keep everyone at bay. She has accepted the fact that she's fated to live a lonely, solitary existence. And so romance is not often a notion she dwells on. However, I would love to see someone attempt to break through her tough exterior and see that she's simply a vulnerable, frightened young woman with noble intentions and then try and draw that out. Could make for an interesting sub-plot.
